I'm running a Dell Optiplex GX150 as a simple server with Server 2003
SP2 on it. Since it only came with USB 1.1, I bought a USB 2.0 PCI
card from Iogear, the GIC220U. When I first installed it, it was
recognized upon start-up and worked perfectly. A month later I came
back to use it again, having made not changes to the computer or OS,
and it was not working at 2.0 speeds anymore. I'm sure it's the card,
because I switched it to a different slot and tried different mass
storage devices. If I plug a hard drive into it, Windows says it does
not recognize it at all. If I plug the same HD into an original USB
1.1 slot though, then switch it to the USB 2.0 slot, Windows will
recognize it, but also says it's still plugged into a low-speed slot.
Even though it is says it is plugged into a slow slot, it works at
fast speeds but for only the first half of a file transfer, and then
immediately slows to a USB 1.1 speed. I tried uninstalling the drivers
and reinstalling them, but nothing worked. Any help or ideas would be
appreciated.
