at this point N is not worth the cost. Even if you would get a PC card that supports N wireless and get a N wireless router / gateway it still wouldn't be noticeable enough on a base laptop to spend the extra money.
The time it takes to write the information to your hard drive from your wireless card will be slower then the actual wireless itself.
