For me, I would suspect a part of the motherboard not running exactly as it should be, the clicking you hear, is relative to an electronic part called (Relay) which directs power and cut it if needed. Maybe you need to try an original charger known to be good running NC6000, because if the universal charger is giving more output than needed, this circuit's job is to disconnect the power, not to toast the mobo.Or this computer is really going bad.
