Simply put, "Serial ATA improves the overall integrity of connectivity
over Parallel ATA by providing CRC error checking capability for data"
Add this fact that PATA is not hot swappable and has limited cable
lenght means its appeal to the commercial market is reduced and knock
on effect so is the non commercial markets appeal is reduced. If they
can introduce CRC this should increase the appeal but I feel that its
to late and the market share has been won by SATA.
