What OS are you using? In Vista - open >Control Panel >Default Programs >Set program defaults - where you can chose what file assosiations - extensions are open by default with VLC. I hope i haven't misunderstud your question. This way you can asoosiate VLC with any specific extension and not select all the would be at installation of VLC. Hope this answers your question,
