Im not sure how it works with XP however, for a 2003Server i had to attach an external floppy to install the SATA driver. If you have the driver just try the things that work best for you first. If you have an old computer that has a floppy drive, this way should work. Also make sure to select the appropriate settings in bios for your hw config.
