I have a 500 Gb Western Digital MyBook Premium External hard drive which stopped being recognized by my computer, an iMac. (First, when I installed Snow Leopard, the Firewire interface was no longer supported, but I was able to switch to USB, but then the USB interface stopped working. I've also tried connecting to a Windows computer and that doesn't work, either.)
Since the drive was purchased new, with a three year warrantee, and was only fifteen months old, I went to the Western Digital support pages and tried to get an RMA number to return the drive. (That was back on December 21.) Unfortunately, the web site insisted my drive was out of warrantee, but gave instructions for a warrantee update, which I assumed with the information I submitted would lead to the correction of the error so I could get an RMA number and get the drive repaired. The automated response said to expect a response within about 24 hours. It's now closer to 24 days than to 24 hours and I've yet to receive any response to either that request or two follow-up emails. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Any advise on how to get a response from Western Digital? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Computer Tech Support" group.
