Did you set up the built-in administrator password? The built-in
administrator is only available in safe mode.
You would need to press F8 when you boot up and select Safe Mode.
Had you created a password reset disk? If you had then using the disk
you could reset your password.

So, if you did not create a password rest disk, and set the built in
administrator password and forgot it you have
basically 3 choices:
1) Re-install losing everything
2) Come up in the recovery console (the boot disk, recovery option),
copy all of your data files; then re-install
3) Use a password cracking system boot disk to get your password. One
I have used in the past is 'Ophcrack'.
The Ophcrack Live CD can be downloaded from sourceforge.net. I
recommend using the Vista version instead of the
XP version as it will crack more passwords when the passwords have
been strengthened than the XP version.

If you did not create a password for the built-in administrator then
it becomes simply a matter of booting up in safe mode;
logging as the administrator and setting your users password.

Please note that when you set the users password if the user had
windows encrypted files the user will not longer be able to
use those encrypted files.
