Thanks for getting back to me, I've just removed MSXML4 from the MSI cleanup utility and it's the same story again, there is no error message it just freezes, also I've noticed that on the add/remove programs the instance of SQL SERVER 2005 is using up 1,012 mb of space, is this right?
