1) I don't believe you can turn off for just drivers
2) With Win 7 I am not 100% sure; but should be able to,
    the same as in Vista/XP - you have to go into control
    panel -> sounds -> advanced speaker properties
    in order to configure your speakers (2,4,5,etc.).
It seems like your speaker settings are set to default (2 - stereo)
