I have seen this type of problem occur due to a windows registry
corruption problem. Totally uninstalling the display adapter,
coming up in safe mode, deleting the display adapter
registry settings (not something I would recommend for the
novice) and rebooting again. When it comes up the
second time the settings would finally stay put.
You could try (uninstall, reboot into safe mode,
uninstall again, reboot) and see if that clears the
problem up.
