maybe it has an auto run file, and it trys to access an unknown extension, first you should make sure that the flash drive is virus free, do a scan or something, then can u open the flash drive using something like right click -> open, if so you might find an autorun.inf file in the usb, delete it and it should work fine, if it was me i'd check what file the autorun is pointing to first, by opening the autorun.inf in a notepad for example, if it's a suspicious file or a file that you don't use and not used by some installer, i'd delete it manually with the auto run.. anyway, try to do the can then autorun file check first.
