first i'll assume you're using windows, by status dialogue do u mean that
small icon on the notifications area on the right of the bottom panel? or do
you mean something else? if what's bothering you is that the icon disappears
after the connection is lost you could change that from the connection
settings, edit the connection that u use and choose to show it all the time
in the notification area, maybe then you'll be able to check what's wrong
with the connection.
