I have a Dell desktop running Windows 7 I purchased last year and everything is working great with a glaring exception... USB connection with my Palm Tungsten TX and my Garmin MAP60CSx with GSAK and a funky thing with my SD memory card from my digital camera.
When I plug my Palm into a USB port (with cable or cradle) I can watch device manager and I hear the connection tone and it appears, then I hear the disconnection tone and it disappears, and it does this over and over and over about every 5 seconds. Never connects and stays connected and I have the latest Palm desktop software and drivers installed. When I use GSAK and try to send data to my Garmin MAP60CSx I get the status bar looking like it trying to send data but it doesn't send anything for about 5 minutes and then it zips the data over in a couple seconds. If I run Mapsource (from Garmin) I can send data instantly to the same GPS with the same cable. When I plug my card reader in a USB port and read my memory card from my digital camera I only have the option to COPY files and not CUT files. I have to format my card in my camera every time. Now before anyone starts saying that it's Windows 7 hear me out. I also have a new HP Netbook that runs Windows 7 and my Palm connects to it perfectly with the same cable and software and works fine. GSAK sends data to my GPS quick and easy and my camera card allows me to CUT files. Just trying to figure out what to do to get this stuff to run clean on my desktop. My Garmin works great with one application but not with another, I can't connect my Palm and I can't delete files from my camera memory cards.
