I have a new Dell Studio Desktop 540 running Windows 7 x64 and it runs fine with both hardware and software with one major issue. I have a Palm Tungsten TX PDA that I use for geocaching. I have both a USB cradle and a USB direct connect cable that both work fine connecting my TX to my HP Netbook (also running Windows 7 x64), but when I connect my TX into any USB port on my Dell, I get the tone that it's connected, then a few seconds later I get the tone it disconnected, then a few seconds later it tones that it's connect, then disconnected, etc, etc, etc.
Basically it never connects and stays connected. When it connects I can monitor connected devices and the Palm shows up fine, then disappears, then shows up, etc. When I connect the same device with either the cradle or the cable with my netbook it works flawlessly. I am totally frustrated on where to look to resolve this as everything else I connect via USB (GPS, card reader, flash drives, external drives, scanner, printer, etc) all work fine. All help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Computer Tech Support" group.
