That's Just Wrong. At most they should have either offloaded all the
data and made the new drive/disks available to her, or called her and
given her the choice to save the old drive so she could try to recover
stuff from it.

I like the disconnected HD cable test. But, having found it, I'd
suspect consumer tampering and might recommend a whole lot of things
as possibilities. I mean, normally those cables don't pop off on their
own. They get pulled out as people are screwing around in there.

  She called to complain, and was informed then that they had erased her
hard drive, as provided for in her service agreement.
