The price of OS/2 tools was just an example by which development was made
unappealing to small developers. The reasons cited about OSX were the
restrictions on virtualization and the changing API's (IIRC) between major
releases. In terms of support and testing cross-platform apps, these two
factors play off each other. The LAS guys said that it was easier to do quality
cross platform apps on Windows than the Mac. When Linux guys say something
good about MS... (The legal restrictions on virtualization also really impacts
people trying to do multi-platform support)

My point was also that rather than a sign of loss of focus on computers,
the difficulty of cross-development results from the strategy of trying to
writing
proprietary apps that will sell machines. Obviously, dual booting on Intel macs
is the tactic for supporting switching windows users, but in the long run
cross-platform apps should be the most attractive way to convenience switching.
