BUT! iPhoto is not a good way to work with lots of photos. It gets slower 
and slower as photos are added. To avoid this many people deliberately 
maintain many smaller folders.

If you friend has Photoshop or Creative Suite, suggest they switch to 
Adobe Bridge.
