You forgot to add if it is ever safe to use.

I will stick with my XP thanks.

My husband is interested in getting a new laptop. I am interested in a new desktop. Are we limited to Dell in order to avoid Vista? Might it be best to wait awhile and see if other manufacturers end up offering XP again?

Neither of us are interested in replacing a bunch of software or hardware(some of which was replaced due to XP).

_I_ still don't even like XP! I long for the simpler days of Win98 (although XP does seem to run better). We are retired now, and don't need the latest/greatest--nor do we have the money now to consider new equipment/software every couple of years.
