Power may not be that big a consideration. A friend of mine used to build little flashing LED lights that would run for years when powered by a D-Cell. He would just solder the battery directly into the circuit and IMS he used batteries that were dead from his flashlight. No switch and it would last long enough.
I think it was this project <http://www.kpsec.freeuk.com/555timer.htm> since I remember the 555 timer. Alternatively you can get Solar powered LED lights at Home Depot that might be easily adaptable. I have some of these that last all night long on most nights even in the winter and they turn on and off with the sun. <http://www.homedepot.com/prel80/HDUS/EN_US/diy_main/pg_diy.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1868437666.1177882566@@@@&BV_EngineID=cccdaddkklgidmjcgelceffdfgidgkg.0&CNTTYPE=PROD_META&CNTKEY=misc/searchResults.jsp&MID=9876&N=2984+5426&pos=n19> On 4/29/07, Tony B <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
This might work if there was a lot of sunlight, but it seems to me the main effect of this sculpture would occur at night. > >Without the use of wires running to the outside, I want to be able to > >turn the LED circuit off and on to save power. > > Don't power it with a battey.
