I too have heard this since the 70's... and the solution at that time was to
move the vacuum hose to the vacuum's exhaust port and blow air into the box.
I have always done this, and had no problems.  I also use a plastic crevice
tool to accelerate the air, and provide insulation from the metal on the
hose.  Works Great!
