Yep. As of this afternoon, they have the wireless system running, sort of. The POS application will not work now, and they are telling me that they are now wishing they had never decided to go wireless, and want to look into hooking the CAT5 cables back up. They have been trying to get this thing up for three days. Does the person in charge know much at all about wireless networking? No, but she has a big ego and thinks that is enough to get the job done appropriately. She did no homework in advance of taking this leap, and is paying the price.

How do the computers running the pieces of the POS system address
each other? Hostname? IP address? If the latter, you may be running
into a problem if the router (wireless or wired) is handing out new
addresses via DHCP. You could still set things up with a static
configuration though it would be difficult to get all the settings
correct. You can do so whether you pick wired or wireless, though,
as Tom points out, it's going to be difficult to secure a wireless
network to the standards expected.
