As for backup, I do that on CDRs which are cheap ...if you were to use one of the scripted backup programs, and if you have lotsa data, you could easily get a DVD-RAM for that (buy 2 so you can have 2 iterations). As for my laptop, I have an IBM x31 40gb which came with a sector with the OS for "backup" which took almost half of the HDD !! I took advantage of their offer to send me the OS and other IBM stuff on a set of CDs for free (good during the first 30 days) after which I gleefully deleted the backup recovering almost 20gb of space. No problems since. CDs sittin' there incase!!
Best backup, for my system (dell 4400 40gb) is to add a 2nd HDD (got a 120) when I get industrious ...for now it sits in its box. Then, will have lotsa space for a backup sector and such!! An external HDD would be good for that as well...dontcha think? Dell never offered to ship my box with a 2nd HDD for backup ...wouldn't that be a good sales pitch? -----Original Message----- From: Randy [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, May 09, 2007 11:05 PM Subject: Re: Why not build back up function into the computer??
