Suitable for Gaming (ideally advertised as a "gaming laptop")
17" screen
Intel Core Duo processor
4GB RAM (of whatever flavor)
Any other hardware requirement to support Aero Glass as well as can be
hoped for given the shortcomings of the technology.

Price no object? Dell XPS. The Alienware stuff won't do 4GB that I
know of, 2GB is the max there. Aero Glass means Vista, I guess, but
I can tell you as a gamer that there's no compelling reason to need DX10
at the moment, as no DX10 games have yet shipped.

Another thing to keep in mind is that as of right now there is no mobile
graphics card capable of taking advantage of DX10 anyway.

Maxed out with a four year warranty and theft insurance, the Dell,
which I "pretend configured" with Windows XP Pro, a carrying case
and Office Professional, was $6000.

The Thinkpad T60p similarly configured was about $4000, but has
a 15" screen and not quite as good graphics hardware. I didn't see
any Thinkpads with 17" screens, they tend to be more business type
machines. But aesthetically they just look cooler :-).
