In my stick drive purchased a couple of weeks ago, the removal information/instructions were in one of the folders on the "CD drive" created by U3. I forget the exact location, but it wasn't obvious at the root level. The instructions amounted to going to the web site of the "manufacturer" of the particular "brand" of U3 software and downloading the applet to remove the U3 "CD drive" and reformat the stick as one drive for the whole stick, FAT32.
