Most Cell companies have automated ways of answering that
question. All I need to do is dial a # or look it up on the web. I
have to do this periodically as I have a son who likes to use the
bulk of our family minutes (I have a son in college who uses his cell
like a regular phone which is not uncommon in this age group.)

What if the question they were continually asking was
"how many minutes have I used so far this month?"
