This is an external two drive enclosure, not a tray. Why bother with eSata? Speed...being able to hot swap if you wanted. As far as incompatibilities go, I'm on windows so SATA is fine. I guess your mac doesn't like new fangled things that came out years ago like SATA?
NAT? NAS? Can you say pokey? I understood he wanted to run OS's from this(these) drives, why use old technology like IDE?
