Or you could listen to what the Executive VP said was the reason: The decision not to develop a universal binary version for Canvas was not an easy one. In the one year I have been executive vice president I have been exploring every option available to try and find a viable path for this product on the Mac platform. Ultimately the decision was decided by economics - it is simply not profitable for us at this time to continue to develop for both platforms. This decision was made despite the acknowledged impact that it will have on some of our customers but ultimately I have an obligation to do what is best for ACD Systems.
It is very unfortunate that circumstances dictated this decision. And once it was arrived at, it needed to be shared so that customers can adjust as necessary. I have read the many posts on this and other forums and I do understand how this decision results in some very emotional responses. I am also very aware that some of you have built your businesses around the productivity that Canvas has afforded you and that to change your software tools, workflow and/or hardware is going to require some adjustments in order to continue to use Canvas. This decision will allow us to continue to develop Canvas on a Windows platform and I hope that many of our customers will choose that as a viable alternative. There are some outstanding questions posed on these forums that haven't been answered yet. One of the most important is "will there be a final bug fix release for the Mac" and I will address those in the near future.
