I haven't had much trouble with their on-demand but maxing out their
bandwidth is why I posted the question about Comcast's triple play a week
ago. I've noticed a lot of pixilation and dropped packets on some of their
digital channels, especially the ones they just added when they shook up
their line up last month. The Retro and IFC channels just stop in
mid-scene, often for ten seconds or more. This is classic dropped packet
behavior on digitized video streams. It's why I wondered about the voice
quality on their IP telephony service. Sure, the Comcast bundle is way
cheaper than Verizon but I've never picked up the POTS line and not gotten
dial tone. The power was out here for a day but Hurricane Isabel didn't
even faze my DSL or POTS service.

I wish FiOS were available in Purcellville but we're not on the plan for the
next couple of years. Eventually they'll fiber all of Loudoun County but it
could be a decade out. Meanwhile I've got a choice of over-priced DSL and
POTS service or the potentially unreliable but cheaper Comcast triple play
($75/month cheaper for me).
