You'd need an external USB tuner "card" for that, as well as a video card with some kind of "out" that can be connected to a TV, if that's the plan. That could be tricky with a laptop. Not to mention an IR blaster w/ remote if this is intended for TV use.
I recently attempted to build a Media Center HTPC with some old parts I had left over from a recent upgrade. The motherboard completely fried as soon as I plugged it into the cable box. Not sure why. Grrrr. It's a AMD64 Socket 754 board, which are getting hard to find. I hate the idea of wasting perfectly good CPU and RAM. > -----Original Message----- > I am curios to. > > I have a couple old Dell Inspiron Laptops with the large 15.4" screens > I > would love to turn into tivo boxes. ************************************************************************ * ==> QUICK LIST-COMMAND REFERENCE - Put the following commands in <== * ==> the body of an email & send 'em to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] <== * Join the list: SUBSCRIBE COMPUTERGUYS-L Your Name * Too much mail?
