Looks like junk. I think this is just a 5MP digital camera put in a box 
with its focus fixed to a fixed distance. 1800 dpi sounds like a lot but 
isn't because 35mm slides are small. Slide scanners usually operate at 
4000, 6000, or 8000 dpi these days. 2000 dpi was a low-end scanner 10 
years ago. A basic scanner that does transparencies would beat these 
specs.

On Google I see Plustek has a 7200 dpi slide scanner for $200, with a 
nice review from shutterbug.com, but a poor review from PCMag. The PC Mag 
review looks like the problem may have been its writer,
