My wife's PowerBook is still running OS9. She prints using our Brother 2040 without any problems. They clerk at the store has probably just read what is on the boxes. I'd say find the printers you like then check their web site for drivers.

P.S. - If you can't find any drivers for OS9 (I believe that you will) buy a Brother 2040 and I"ll send you the drivers.

Here's my dilemma: when my printer quit, I thought I could just buy another one
and plug it in.

That was naïve. When I got to the store, I was told that none of the printers
currently for sale would work with OS 9.

"Why not?" I asked.

"It's the drivers," I was told. "The printers just won't work. So, just forget
about it." That was all the answer I could get.

OK, I know I should have switched to OS X completely years ago. But I have a
lot of files on the OS 9 side of my partitioned drives (the other sides being
OS X), and it's a lot more convenient to print from OS 9. It will be a big job
to reorganize my files so I can easily find and print them from the OS X side
of the computer.

Has anybody else had this problem? Is there anything I can do about this? And is the problem that nobody has the drivers available for downloading, or that the drivers (if you got them) are not compatible with the current printer hardware and software?
