I just recently got Comcast broadband at home and have it hooked up to my Apple G5 running OS 10.5. It is hooked up using the Arris "Touchstone" cable modem that Comcast provided. I have the firewall settings within OS 10.5 set to "Allow only essential services". Is this sufficient firewall protection or should I look at getting an additional hardware/software firewall?
Also, I have a PC in another room of the house that also has a cable hook up. I would like to get a cable modem and firewall for this machine. Checking reviews online has left me with a couple dozen choices. Does anybody have any recommendations for a reliable cable modem/firewall combination device? It can be wired or wireless, but I would have to get a wireless card for the PC if I went with that.
