do a search on a subject?
it's the inbox.

doing a search on a specific subject didn't cause it to be rebuilt.
maybe i'm not understanding.

didn't there use to be something about deleting ??.msf?
don't remember the other part of the filename.

how can i get them back?

Very concise. Not necessarily sufficient.

If you have lost the indications of unread messages that shows up in the
left hand pane in parentheses, that probably means the indices (*.msf
folders) are hosed.

One way of forcing TB to rebuild messed up ones is to do a search.

Right click on Local Folders (for example) and click Search. Search on
something, and watch as each folder has its index built and the number of
unread messages shows up.

If it is just your Inbox, do the same thing for that, it will just go more
quickly.
