Best thing to do is
#1 Run Disk Utility from the CD that came with your machine.
#2 Reformat the hard drive using the original CD
This will completely erase the information on the internal hard drive on your
iMac, and it will reinstall all programs that initially came with the
computer. (& all your personal information will be completely erased and
inaccessible.) It will also allow you to rename the computer, and to use a new
(generic?)
administrator password during the re-installation. You should not use the
password that you previously used. & you will want to be sure to pass the new
administrator password along to the new owner as they will need it in the
future.
Hope this is of help.
