I have been experimenting with capturing stills. Found out that a camera
put too low (under 6 feet off the ground) doesn't get faces. Found out
that motion blur is a problem if the subject is too close to the camera
(under 6 feet). Fast moving objects will blur, but in a run of shots
there will usually be some that are fine, even under low light. No
problem recognizing the subject. Really good results if you can situate
the camera so the subject will be walking toward it at some point. Maybe
your security guru had an old camera?

The BL-C1A claims to work down to 10 lux in "normal" mode and 4 lux in
"night" mode. (10 lux is the light of a candle at 1 foot.) I have not yet
tested this because the emergency lighting in my office will not let it
get that dark.

I see folks obsessing on the camera, but this is really just a minor part
of the full system.
