The last version of itunes I installed (last summer I think) was
malware. It took over lots more than it should have without asking me.
Perhaps they've fixed that by now.

But now it's nagware. Every week or so I get a desktop popup reminding
me to update Quicktime with itunes, and that box is checked by
default. Less attentive users would install itunes unintentionally. I
don't want to disable the reminder because I *want* to keep Quicktime
(without itunes!) updated.

There's no reason to force shoppers to use proprietary intrusive
software, even if it is free.
