We must be talking about two different things. The plan I read about
in the telephone directory wasn't that cheap...
The phone companies deserve all the bashing they get. I remember
visiting my elderly mother, in Florida, and thinking I'd take a few
minutes to reduce the full-option phone package someone had sold her.
I spent an hour on the phone trying to reach a live person.
Eventually I found the only way to reach someone was to select the
option to initiate new service. The phone company knew that
navigating that labyrinth was beyond the ability of most of their
elderly customers.
Call the customer service number and hit "0". You'll get someone, at
least you do around here. Ask to speak to a supervisor. Explain what
you want and it will be done, to the extent possible. Get names and
document times and dates.
I'm sorry you had a bad experience. If it's anything I can fix, I'll fix
it. Was this Verizon or AT&T? What part of Florida?
