Keyboard configuration is software based. Markings on the keys just make it easier to find the acute accent, accent grave, cedilla, circumflex, caron, ¿ ¡ , etc. What do you do with the French keyboard if you decide to use it for Croatian or Portuguese or Italian? Do you need a new notebook for each language!

While you can buy a keyboard or notebook with these marks, if you use more than one language, consider a keyboard cover/skin with diacritical marks for each language. Try i-Skin for notebooks or SpeedSkin for keyboards, http://www.speedskin.com/. Get a skin and set your Keyboard prefs to French.
