I have relatives (both Mac and PC) who swear by Skype and its free computer-to-computer video/audio communication. Today, a techie who was fixing the household printer told my significant other about a Skype phone that handles both land calls and Internet calls (see link below). He said, though, that its use cost $60 per year, with unlimited calls in U.S. & to Canada. Europe is 2.5 cents per min. He said we'd no longer need a landline (for which we currently pay approx. $28-34 per month).
I know that Skype charges for calls from computers to regular landline phones, but I am unfamiliar with a Skype phone and any means to use one (presumably through a WiFi hookup). Does anyone know what our pocket-protected friend was talking about or have experience with one of these things?
