Perhaps some hacking may be involved, but if Apple does this, they would have to make it easy to do to be successful at challenging the Windows OS on traditionally Windows machines.

Apparently, Apple has already dropped the "Macintosh" name from being associated with the newly planned advertising campaigns for upcoming releases of Leopard. A large banner hung from the ceiling at the WWDC '08 Ground Floor & Registration area is being used to advertise Leopard, but is absent any mention of Apple or Macintosh.
