Is it important that the Nokia N-series phones' cameras have Zeiss lenses? Does that make their photos any better?

Maybe. But, compared to what? If compared to an identical phone equipped with a different lens make, perhaps it will be better. Compared to a different brand of phone with a camera it may still be better, but perhaps not if components other than the lens are of higher quality in this other brand of phone. I personally see no reason at all to go to extremes in an attempt to extract truly worthwhile pictures from a phone and I sure as heck would not be swayed to buy any phone because it has a Zeiss lens.

The proverbial cardboard box pinhole camera has no lens at all and one of those can almost assuredly take a better looking photo than a Zeiss equipped phone camera. : )
