Not sure that I understand your problem either... please clarify.
Some computers have a speaker built into the base unit... is that your
situation?
Or do you mean that you want to use your speakers built into your monitor
instead of the speakers that came with your computer?
Do your new speakers have USB connector or a 1/4" jack?
What model Gateway do you have?
