Taking the cover off the drive should give you ready access to the lugs on the back end of the power socket. A normal set of probes for a voltage tester should work fine. You really want to measure voltage while the power supply is attached to the drive and the drive is on. If the power supply is not under load you will get misleading voltage information, except in the case where the output is zero. >I'm more interested in finding out how the voltages appear on the pinout >than what the current capacity of the device may be. Sometimes you get lucky following the wires from the back end of the connector to the circuit board.
