A great way to let the world know that your know little about computers is to insist on adding anti-virus software to a Mac. This is even a worse faux pas than eating your salad with the desert fork. Even P. Hilton knows better than do that. Someone who knows so little should not be in a position to be setting any policies about computers. Fire them. But you say, they are the President's brother in-law or they are sleeping with the CEO. You all have to cower when they enter the room and follow even the most ridiculous commands. So, they have to be pacified, but don't know enough to ever figure out that they are being treated like fools. OK. Here's the plan: Go to www.clamxav.com and download the FOSS ClamXav. The nice people at ClamXav even tell you at the top of their web page that there are ZERO viruses for the Mac. So the only purpose of ClamXav is to filter out viruses before sending files on to people who use poorly engineered computers that are a virus-writers' playground. ClamXav will run on command when you press the "Start Scan" button. I advise against ever pressing this button because any false positives can wreak havoc on your computer. It could be even more destructive than any virus (if there were any). Note all the cautions about having good backups before running this (or any) anti-virus program on a Mac. Another solution would be to replace all your computers with Macs. You'll save lots on support costs and won't have to worry about passing on viruses. ************************************************************************* ** List info, subscription management, list rules, archives, privacy ** ** policy, calmness, a member map, and more at http://www.cguys.org/ ** *************************************************************************
