Maybe. Also you can run chkdsk from the CLI. After repairing errors on the drive, you shouldn't see too many errors next week. You may need a boot disk for this, or you can run it from the recovery console, or you can just restore the laptop and run it from Windows. http://www.ubcd4win.com/
I had a new laptop last year that kept getting odd errors. But every time I ran chkdsk it would spew dozens of errors. Acer sent me a new hard drive, but the problem persisted, indicating the disk controller was bad. FWIW the disk passed all SMART tests without error.
