This is all so clever... A goodly part of Chrome is under LGPL. Every major browser, except for IE, is based on open source work. So all these non-MS browsers will be able to quickly benefit from Google's contributions. I expect everybody but MS will quickly start incorporating code that contains many of Chrome's best ideas. On the other hand, there is MS. Since IE is part of the Windows OS (or so they told the judge), if MS were to use any of the LGPL code it would make the entirety of Windows subject to LGPL.
