Contacted seagate and they were all too ready to exchange it ...I think this is common ...I escalated to a "tech" and he said to backup my stuff NOW and while waiting for the exchange drive ($20) I should visit a local religious institution to make sure it doesn't fly apart before the other one gets here ...no extension on the warranty but I still have to Oct25 2010 on it which will carry over, so ...barracuda ate my double sawbuck ...not as bad as a failure be4 backup ...and they pay the s/h both ways so...
