I'm using Thunderbird 2.0.0.17. For the most part it functions well
however when it comes to the junk filter, not so good. It keeps
putting legitimate email (some from important clients) in the junk
mail folder. No matter how many times I mark it as "not junk" and
making sure their email address is in my address books. This happens
on both my PCs (Vista and XP) and my iMac. Any ideas on how to fix
this?

First get TB v.3.x. Then reset your junk filter. Create filters for your inbox that sends client emails to a subfolder[s]

I created a filter for the junk folder where I mark the "not junk" email with a star, and that sends those back to the inbox when I run the filter. In Account Settings, you can choose SpamAssassin or SpamPal. Switch them and compare results.

If there are missing features in TB 3.x, they can be restored using Advanced/Config Editor.
