OK stupid question. Why are they using a raw data base program?
There are a myriad of programs that have been designed to help Non
profits keep track of just about everything. Plus give reports etc.
Even Quick Books pro at one time have a non profit module to help
keep track of donations.
Their first mistake was to use someone else's data base
file. Notoriously they are one off's designed for that specific organization.
They need to ask other non profits what program (not database) they
are using to keep track of their donors/donations.
Our church (main body not local) developed one using Access as the
database engine but then merged it with Segate crystal reports to
grab info and generate reports.
At one time their was a program called membership plus put out by
then Parsons technology that could be adapted to do what you are
masking. I am not sure if it is still around. It used Borland's (of
dbase fame) database engine.

I am trying to advise a small, poor, low tech skills, non-profit
about what membership/donations database tool they should use.
They have copies of both Access and FM Pro (8?) and have made a
problematic 1st attempt in Access at adopting another orgs. Access
database for use with their 400 members. Although they got their 400
members into the DB and deleted the originals, the approach isn't
working for them. The original DB was badly designed and fixing /
using it is over their head.
I am researching appropriate solutions and off of the top of my
head, thinking of looking for an existing non-profit
membership/donations template (etc.) front end for modifiable FM Pro
back end as a way to go.
Can anyone suggest such ... or other cheap, easy and expandable/
modifiable solution ... or failing that ... an review article or
other online or published resource that might guide me in my research?
Thanks,
